Supporting Ka Ora Ka Ako, Nourishing Our Future
Kimiora Trust is proud to be a provider of the Ka Ora Ka Ako – Healthy Lunches in Schools program, a government initiative aimed at reducing food insecurity and ensuring that school children have access to regular and nutritious lunches.
Beyond a simple meal, the program offers advantages such as:
- Improved health and development
- Enhanced learning outcomes
- Increased community engagement
Our Commitment to Healthy School Lunches
Kimiora Trust founder, Kiritahi Firmin, is passionate about providing our community’s children with the nourishment they need to thrive. She believes well-fed children are better equipped to learn and reach their full potential. Through our involvement in Ka Ora Ka Ako in 2021-2023, we have proudly served over 100,000 lunches to local schools, thanks to the generous support of the Ministry of Education.
Our Unique Approach
At Kimiora Trust, we prioritise employing local people and serving meals in a marae style, fostering a sense of community and cultural connection. Our ultimate goal is to grow and produce our vegetables, employing more people from our community and utilising our land.
